ADHD and eating disorders
People with ADHD are more likely.to have an eating disorder. Binge Eating disorder (BED) is particularly prevalent with up to 70% of people with ADHD showing some symptoms.There are many reasons why the conditions occur together and a dietitian with an understanding of ADHD is vital for recovery.
Picky eating
People with ADHD may be picky eaters or have sensory difficulties with certain foods. Different approaches work for different people and Jane is trained in several different methods to help encourage food exploration and increase variety in the diet.
Insufficient weight gain
Some children and adults may not be gaining enough weight for healthy growth and functioning. This can be for different reasons including due to medications used to treat ADHD.
Micronutrient Deficiencies
Some people will have nutrient deficiencies and this can make symptoms of ADHD more challenging. Jane can advise on ways to reverse these deficiencies and sustain an adequate diet.
